I bought these to replace my WF1000XM4 which no longer held enough charge to be of any use. The WF1000XM4 were great earbuds with only a few areas that needed improvement. Therefore I held high hopes for the XM5. Needless to say I have been left somewhat disappointed by the "upgraded" model. While the sound quality is marginally better, the smaller form is nice and the touch response is improved, they have dropped the ball in other areas. Overall the battery life is decreased when compared to the WF1000XM4 at full capacity. I could get a full work day of usage out of the XM4 when they were brand new, the XM5 will be depleted maybe an hour earlier. The XM5 is also has intermittent drop outs, even with the linked device on my person. One of the buds will drop out for a few milliseconds a few times a day.
So if you've owned the previous model I would suggest lowering your expectations for this one.
